Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. Smoking leads to disease and disability, costing the U.S. billions of dollars each year. Tobacco contains thousands of chemicals and toxins that are harmful to the body and those around the smoking. Secondhand smoke comes from a burning tobacco product and is smoke that has been exhaled by a person smoking. Secondhand smoke exposure is harmful to health and causes children to have respiratory illness and asthma.

The Great American Smoke Out from the American Cancer Society is an event that occurs on the third Thursday each November. The Great American Smoke out encourages individuals to stop smoking and to start with the event to be the journey towards a smoke free lifestyle.
